Isaiah Allen to bring male perspectives to Girls Are Powerful Board
Girls Are Powerful is thrilled to welcome Isaiah Allen to our board of directors! Isaiah met his mentor, GRP Board Chair Danielle Hansen, as a student at the University of St. Thomas.
“I was quickly impressed with Isaiah’s strong dedication, communication skills and inquisitive nature,” said Danielle. “As someone who has experienced his own challenges in life, he is passionate about service to the community.”
Isaiah was drawn to the GRP mission. “My mother and younger sister are the smartest, strongest and most passionate women I know,” said Isaiah. “I come from a family of strong women who have molded me into the person I am today. I owe a tremendous amount of thanks to the women who instilled determination into my very being and heart.” He decided to serve on the board “because I understand how important it is to lift our future women leaders.”
Isaiah is a Business 200 Facilitator at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business. He manages a required business course that gets students involved in nonprofit work. For Girls Are Powerful, Isaiah will serve as a Director at Large and will chair an assigned committee at the director level to ensure the committee outcomes are executed successfully.
Empowering girls ages 7-17 is important to Isaiah. “They are developing into young adults that are going to go out and change the world. These are the ages when you start to see that you can make waves. It’s important that girls can see others making an impact, and to also have that support network to push them to strive and see that people believe in them.”
Isaiah’s favorite power word is: “Determined. Determination enables us to persist when we face difficulties, and to walk through a storm fearlessly without faltering to achieve our goals. When girls are determined, no one can stop their progress.”
