July’s Theme is Rest and Relaxation

While this summer will hopefully be filled with fun activities and positive new experiences, it’s good to remember to take a moment to rest and relax. Our bodies and minds need time to recharge. Take some time off from your normal routine or schedule and focus on your health and wellbeing!

Supporter Spotlight!

Anahita is the “Squad Captain” of Twin Cities Mom Squad, an online hub where women of diverse backgrounds support each other personally and professionally through community outreach and connection. Anahita felt a connection to Shawntan, daughter Jalyn and Girls Are Powerful as Anahita also has a daughter and a program that supports girls.

Anahita and Mom Squad joined forces with her fellow MomFriends on a campaign called “Moms on a Mission,” financially supporting nonprofit organizations including Girls Are Powerful in 2020. We are so grateful! Read More

Youth Advisory Board

A big thank you to our YAB members for a great spring term. As we move into the summer, the YAB will be moving to monthly check-in meetings to start planning and preparing activities for Fall 2021.

Girl Talk! Powerful Conversations for Powerful Girls

This month, we spoke with guest speaker Jamie Finkenthal, a plus-size model who talked about body positivity and body inclusivity in the fashion industry. It was a great conversation that you’ll want to watch if you missed it, check out the video here.

Wear A Mask: In Song

The Youth Advisory Board would like to encourage all individuals to continue to wear their masks in crowded spaces to continue to protect those who have yet to be vaccinated. To remind you to wear your mask, YAB member Sherry has created an AMAZING tiktok! We are blown away by her creativity and will keep wearing our masks in crowded areas so we can enjoy a safe summer! Check out her video here!
